TapouT XT Day Thirty Eight - Cross Core Combat
Mandi is still out of commission so I had another day of soloing TapouT XT with Cross Core Combat. It's been over three weeks since I have done this routine so it was like a brand new workout. I can't believe this was the very first routine of the 90 day program because it's a tough one. I did monumentally better than the last time, but I remember why I felt like I was hit by a truck after day one. I had to take a couple of breathers but overall I was sticking through almost every move, hell yeah. I did remember this workout ended with the grinder, no way of forgetting that, and in true form I had to pause the DVD and grind my way through it.
I really love the way this program continually mixes things up. Everyday starts out by discovering which zone we worked the day before while getting out of bed. I guess the soreness could bother some but I like knowing that the program is still working. Each time we do a routine we can do more and go harder. The incremental improvements just keep adding up and are resulting in real progress. At day thirty eight I have solidified my opinion that TapouT XT is a great program. It's hard work, as it should be, but as long as you bring the effort it will deliver.
TapouT XT isn't a typical circuit based exercise program. Very rarely do you repeat a cycle during a routine. Usually when a move is performed again it is augmented to be harder than it's previous rendition. This diversity is what keeps it interesting and not drudgery. Ultimate Abs is the only routine that I know the exercise order, probably due to the fact that it is only 15 minutes long and I've done it 9 times already. That doesn't make it easy though, or even boring. It is such a hard routine I find myself focusing more on each move. The diversity of this program has made the thirty eight days fly by.
Since Mandi is still suffering with a pulled muscle we spent the evening watching more food related documentaries. I don't even know what to say after learning more about the horrors of what our food is doing to us, let alone the plight of the small local farmer. Over a year ago I watched "Food Inc" and was shocked. Somehow, being an American I think, I let that information slowly slip to the back of my brain. There was a statement in one of the documentaries that really struck a chord with me. I'm sure I'll butcher it but the gist is... "We have our priorities mixed up in America. We prefer to spend money for a particular car instead of good food." I don't want to soap box this so here are some of the ones we watched: "Food Matters", "Ingredients", "Food Fight" and "Farmageddon". All of those are available on Netflix.
