TapouT XT Day Fifteen - Cross Core Combat
Today we began week three of TapouT XT with our second time of Cross Core Combat. What a difference than the first time through. I feel a lot stronger and kept up for almost the entire workout, the grinder still had us pausing the DVD and slowing to, well, a grind that ended with us performing the push-ups from our knees. Overall, a night and day comparison. To think that this is only the beginning of the third week, I wouldn't have expected our fitness to have progressed this well from our performance on that first day.
I burned a hundred less calories due to my heart rate remaining lower during the routine, awesome. Being a numbers person I love it when progress is presented in the data. I know you're thinking, you burned less you moron, but that's OK. My ability to recover is improving so my heart health is increasing! Our goal is improved health and fitness. Sure, I'd love to have that bodacious beach body at the end of the 90 days but more importantly I want to be fit.
We're still caught in the diet whirlwind so who knows where we'll land. We tried a vegan pasta recipe for dinner and it was just OK. Mandi spent an hour in preparation for what turned out to be bland. We would have been happier just eating the vegetables separate from the pasta and forgoing the hour of wasted time, which goes to show that sometimes less is a lot more. I've been looking into the Paleo diet a little and I don't know if it's possible for someone prone to gout. It's an interesting concept but we sure are addicted to our grains, er, the carbs our bodies turn into sugar.
No matter what, we need to increase our fruits and vegetables at the least. The anti-grain arguments are interesting, especially from the gut health/gut restoration points of view, so we may try some things in the future. We obviously failed miserably yesterday at achieving any reasonable caloric intake from just vegetables so we'll need to learn a bit more moving forward. We're due for our annual physicals so tomorrow I'll go to the lab for the blood work portion. The results of which could have us discovering another entirely bizarre human sustenance system.
