Time Passed and Times to Come

We've landed squarely in a stall. The JaMvan has been acting a bit peculiar, requiring a trip back to Ujoint Offroad for some doctoring. Her recent wheezing and grumbling cannot be ignored. Our hope to be completed with the build by the end of the month, obliterated. We've been in need of a rest, our mental remediation will begin once the van is built. With the brakes slammed, we reflect, maybe also due to the fact that my 41st birthday is fast approaching.

Over focus is one of my specialties. I'm dense with undersight, an unfortunate ability. At times it has been an unexpected asset, usually just a distraction. Oblivious to my surroundings, walking alone in my mind, a continuous conversation of contrasting contradictions. Our halt has jolted my mind's eye and forced retrospection of the recent.

The past 6 years have been spent, almost entirely, focused on making a life change. It has had its share of iterations, as have we. A slow erosion of perceived life by one that is desired. Moments paused for future wishes, hopes and dreams. A fever that is nearing its breaking, the culmination of climaxes... a reality.

Have we cast aside too much in a selfish pursuit? Perhaps, more likely just residual turmoil from swimming upstream for so long. Sacrificing what is for what could be, isn't that the course of current culture? Instead of a long term bet we're hedging a short term one, freeing up potential possibilities, possibly? An expense that has been paid, with time. Listing the ship almost too far to reap its righting, an experiment in equilibrium. Believing it's all concentric circles.

We've walked a line for so long a line is no longer necessary. Long lost are current affairs, most significant dates, and pursuits of immediate gratification. Time, our only true currency, has rightly become our most valued commodity. Wasted, wanted, withstanding-an atrocity for those who suffer under its weight. We've scrutinized our expenditures.

To those who have been a part of the sacrifice, thank-you. To those who will share our unfettered time, celebrate the sacrificed.

Oh yes we did, took a pic of the art hanging in your bathroom!

oh Dear... well, guess you're having your own sort of setback :( Sorry for that but, as with our roof, things will re-adjust and you'll move on. Good luck getting it all going and getting on the road!

Thanks Rhonda. We have confidence that everything will work out for all of us, one day we'll share the stories as distant memories over a campfire. This moment for reflection allowed us to spend time with our dear friends Ruined Adventures and to meet Adventures in Skyhorse, a great way to take a break. We'll all be back on track soon enough.

We met Ruined Adventures at Overland Expo last year.. a lovely couple, and only know Skyhorse from the web but at least you got to meet some inspiring travel friends!

There's always a bright side! We're a bit worried our timeline will hinder meeting other overlanders before we set off. This past weekend proved we can pound some miles if needed to hug those that have fueled our adventure. Maybe a mini-rally is in order for all the folks in Florida, everyone else would be welcome too of course.

Will you guys be at Expo West this year? That's our first and only scheduled item on our itinerary. Seems like there will be loads of Pan-Am veterans in attendance.
